PRODUCT CARE

BRASS PLATED JEWELLERY

The brass plated jewellery has been individually handmade by highly skilled craftsmen in solid brass, and plated in 18 or 22 carat gold, 18ct rose gold, rhodium, platinum, or black lacquer. To prolong the life of your jewellery, store it in its protective cover, clean it with a soft cloth, keep away from water, especially sea water, and keep it away from hot surfaces, adhesives, acetones and all other chemicals.

Even though the jewellery is made of metal, both solid pieces and chain must be treated with the utmost of care because they are fragile and can snap or break if dropped, caught or hit. It is normal for plated items to discolour over time, depending on amount of use and treatment. The repair specialists will be able to advise on replating.

SILVER PLATED JEWELLERY

Silver jewellery is made from 925 Sterling Silver and is plated in either 18ct yellow gold or 18ct rose gold to prevent the metal from tarnishing. We recommend that all silver jewellery should be cleaned using a special anti-tarnish silver cleaning cloth or dry lint free cloth. These can be bought from most jewellers. Care should be taken not to be too forceful when polishing as this can damage the surface of the silver. Our jewellery may also incorporate cubic zirconia, onyx, pearl, quartz, black spinel, white topaz, white agate. We suggest using a dry lint free cloth for the polishing of such items, taking extra care around the stone set areas. We advise that you do not use any cleaning agents with jewellery that incorporates stones as they can be damaged. To maintain your jewellery on a day-to-day basis, polish using a high cloth, and when not in use store in the duster bag provided, away from direct heat or strong lighting.

FINE JEWELLERY

Fine jewellery items are made from either 18ct white gold or yellow gold, or palladium. To care for your fine jewellery, we recommend cleaning the item with a special cleaning cloth, or dry lint free cloth, which can be bought from most jewellers. Our fine jewellery incorporates stones including amethyst, chrysoprase, diamond, onyx, pearl, ruby and white agate, and extra care should be when cleaning these stones: use a dry lint free cloth and avoid using any cleaning agents as they may damage the stones. We recommend you store fine jewellery in its protective cover when not in use.

LEATHER GOODS

Our leather goods have each been individually hand-made in Spain or Italy by highly skilled craftsmen, using real leather or other fabrics and embellished with hand-made metal components. To prolong the life of your bag, please store it in its protective cover, wipe off any marks with a soft cloth and keep it away from water, heat, adhesives, chemicals, sharp or rough objects.

For advice on individual materials, please see below:

CALF AND PRINTED LEATHERS

Try to store handbags in a cool, dry and dark place as excess heat can fade and dry out leather. Treat most stains by gently rubbing with clean cloth, warm water and soap.

PATENT LEATHER

The best way to care for patent leather is to clean the product first to get rid of any dirt, by rubbing it gently with a clean, moist cloth. After this, dab a clean dry cloth in a very small amount of petroleum jelly and rub gently over object. Allow to stand for 5 minutes and then buff. The petroleum jelly not only helps the item retain its sheen, but also helps protect it from cracking.

HOME ACCESSORIES

The London Collection for Skutuna consists of candleholders, bookends and desktop accessories in copper and brass, which are made in Sweden. The nature of the design means that delicate details can be difficult to clean with ordinary polish. We recommend using a water-soluble cleanser that washes away with water after the treatment. Be sure to wipe dry with a soft tissue afterwards.

The Lunar collection for Lapicida is made of brass and marble. Please clean brass with Brasso or similar metal polish with soft polishing cloth until you get desired shiney and clean finish. Marble can be cleaned with mild detergent and please avoid contact with lemon juice as it may discolour and stain the marble.
